2 month stats for our little (or BIG) JAM Man

Weight: 14 pounds, 8.5 ounces (90%)
Height: 23 1/2 inches (75%)

He has been wearing size two diapers for about 2 weeks now and has moved up into 6 month clothing.  This boy is growing so fast!

His two month photo shoot didn't go as planned.  He spit up on the 2 month sticker about 5 seconds into the shoot.  And since he's obsessed with his hands, you can't really see the sticker on his onesie because his hands are in the way for almost every shot.  Oh well.  He's still super stinkin' CUTE!  I find that I am in so head-over-heels in love with this little guy it's almost painful to think about!

The other day I'm positive he said the word "mama".  I'm always asking him "Can you say Mamaaa?", "Can you say Daddyyy?, "Can you say Sydneyyy?" in my baby talk voice.  He thinks it so funny and always tries to talk back to me with a huge grin on his face.  Well, on Monday he said the word "mama" FOR REAL.  Andy and my mom both heard it and were shocked, so I'm not crazy!  I don't think it was necessarily intentional, but it was so dang cute and awesome (score one for mom!).  And about 5 minutes after his very first word, he had a blow out all over his dad.  It was so cool and made for a great memory. :)

Here are a few more shots from his 2 month photos.

His cheeks weigh him down.

Contemplating his plan to take over the world.

Chunky little man!

Silly boy

Best friends...almost.

A new mom's random ramblings

Did you know....?  That a baby needs his/her nails clipped every three or four days?!! It's ridiculous how fast they grow! And I have a little scratcher on my hands. He always rubs his eyes when he's sleepy or just waking up and I seem to find a new red mark or scratch on his face every day because of it. So now we (or I, who are we kidding here?) am keeping his nails trimmed as often as he will allow it. Wrestling with a baby to clip his nails may not seem like a big deal, but I can assure you it is no small feat. But mommy always wins.

And I just can't get enough of these photos of little JAM.  How cute is he?!?!  Sorry for the low quality, these were all taken with my iPhone.

Just chillin'
I just love that little tongue!

First Post Baby WOD

Man, I am soooooore. I went back to Crossfit on Monday. I scaled down the workout since I didn't want to kill myself. The warm up was 3 rounds of: run 200 meters, 10 lunges, 10 jumping squats. My scaled version of the WOD was: AMRAP 15 minutes of 5 power cleans, 10 lunges, 5 wall balls. I got over 6 rounds completed and I was exhausted at the end of it. I also drank 3 gallons of water. Ok, maybe not but I felt like I couldn't get enough water in me. Andy brought the little JAM man up to the box to meet everyone and he did great! He just sat in people's arms and watched the action. He really seems to be a ladies' man because he couldn't keep his eyes of the Jo and Alyssah in their hot pink workout shirts. My goal is to try to get three workouts in each week, either Crossfit or running around the neighborhood. I also want to be able to maintain my milk supply so I'm trying to take it slow and keep an eye on that. I was told that to drink lots of water and that one cup of dark beer per day helps to maintain your milk supply and make it nice and rich. I'm not complaining one bit about that. :)

I am taking before pictures so I can see the changes over the next few weeks...but there's NO WAY I'm posting them on here. Sorry folks!  I'm not that brave.  And did you know that growing a big healthy baby boy in your belly could potentially, quite possibly, MOST LIKELY give your once smooth belly those oh-so-lovely stretch marks?!?  Well, I'm here to tell you that being pregnant can, and MOST LIKELY WILL give you some stretch marks on your body.  Totally not cool.  I thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones who got away with no marks, but what do you know?  They showed up ONE DAY prior to me hitting the 40 week mark.  And I went on to carry Jensen for another full week after that so they just got worse no matter how much I lathered my belly in rich anti-stretch mark cream.  Oh well.  I guess I need to embrace the changes because it was all worth it for my sweet little baby boy.

Jensen is 2 months

My sweet baby boy at 6 weeks
During Jensen's first few weeks home, time seemed to stand still.  While I don't want my baby to grow up too fast, I was also soooo ready to be past the difficult newborn stage.  But now that we've reached the two month milestone, I'm asking myself how we got here so fast!?!  Time seems to be flying by now and before I know it I will be going back to work...well in September anyway. I know it will be here in the blink of an eye.  Stay away September!

Jensen has his two month doctor's appointment tomorrow and I'm so nervous!  I know he is going to freak out when they give him his first round of immunizations.  It's crazy how different a baby's cry is when they are hungry or tired versus when someone pokes a needle in their leg!   I myself am still deathly afraid of needles to this day.  I seriously considered whether I really wanted to get pregnant because of my irrational fear of needles!  But I quickly got over it when I had been caring a baby for 41 weeks.  Who cares about needles anymore, just get this baby out!

And now to the fun stuff.  You may be asking yourself "what has Jensen been up to this month?".  Well, he's really starting to show his personality.  He loves to smile at his favorite people, especially his mom, dad, and Loli (my mom).  He squinches his cheeks up when he does this and his eyes get all squinty, just like mine do when I smile.  He loves to stick his tongue out and make silly faces.  He talks to us in his cute baby voice and even laughs sometimes.  I live for these moments!  He's slept through the night one time so far (7 hours).  Most of the time he sleeps for about 5 hours (until 3am), wakes up to eat, and then goes back to sleep for another 3 hours.  We're ok with this schedule for now, but would love for him to get more 7 hours stretches of sleep soon..!  This boy LOVES to eat!  And you don't want to make him wait for it either, or he makes sure to let you know he's starving.  I'm estimating this, but I believe he weighs close to 15 pounds right now...!  His cheeks are huge and I can't stop kissing on them.  They are my favorite feature on him.  He looks like he's going to be a brown-eyed boy.  His hair still stands straight up in the back and we like it that way!  I've tried to brush it down right after bath time, but when it dries it just pops back up.  Andy calls him his little pineapple head.  This month we are going to start working more on tummy time.  He already has a strong neck and has been holding his head up since birth, but he's not too fond of tummy time, so we're going to keep working at it.  He loves the outdoors, and enjoys our nightly walks around the neighborhood with Syd.  He also loves bath time.  He gets so peaceful when we put him in the bath and makes cute little noises and faces when he's in there.

I feel like I've really started to bond with him this month and I'm loving our time together at home or running errands.  I've even had time to cook and bake a little lately which has been nice!

I will load some of his two month photos later this week, so stay tuned for that!

Meet J.A.M.

Jensen Alexander was born on Thursday April 19, 2012 at 6:25pm weighing in at 8 pounds 15 ounces and 20.75 inches long.  He was born by C-Section (not by choice).  Here is his birth announcement.

I'm baaaaaack!

Howdy folks!  I've decided to try the whole blogging thing again.  If you've followed me in the past you know that historically I've never been very good at updating it.  But I'm reprioritizing and I would love to use my blog as a journal of all the exciting and new things Jensen does every day so I can look back on these years and remember his milestones and our time as a family of three.  So, if you're one of those people that doesn't care to read about other people's babies and all the cute things they do, then this may not be the blog for you. And I'll try to write about other interesting events when I feel inspired to do so and find the time.
